Why did I lose more coins than I bet?
In Lord of the Board, the amount you win or lose depends on how the game ends - not just the stake you entered with. A game can end in three ways: a regular win, a Gammon, or a Backgammon. Each one changes the payout.
Regular Win
You finish removing all your pieces from the board before your opponent. The stake stays the same - you win exactly what was agreed at the start (minus the rake).
Gammon - Stake Doubles (x2)
You finish removing all your pieces while your opponent hasn't removed a single piece yet. This is called a Gammon, and the stake is doubled. So if you entered a 100,000 coin game, the effective value becomes 200,000 coins.
Backgammon - Stake Triples (x3)
You finish removing all your pieces while your opponent still has pieces stuck on the bar or in your home board (the last six points on your side). This is called a Backgammon, and the stake is tripled. A 100,000 coin game becomes 300,000 coins.
The Doubling Cube
If either player used the doubling cube during the game, the stake multiplies on top of whatever outcome applies. For example: a 2x cube + Gammon = 4x the original stake.
